EC team to review poll preparedness in Rajasthan

The EC top brass will hold a meeting tomorrow with poll officials in the state

A team of top Election Commission officials will review the poll preparedness in Rajasthan for the ensuing assembly elections there.

Top EC officials including Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath and two Election Commissioners H S Brahma and Nasim Zaidi left for Jaipur today to hold a meeting with representatives of various political parties to seek their views on smooth conduct of polls.

The EC top brass will tomorrow hold a meeting with poll officials in the state and review the election preparedness and arrangements.It will also assess the requirement of central and state police forces for conduct of polls.
 

EC officials have already visited states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in this regard and also held a meeting with poll officials in Delhi, ahead of announcing the dates for assembly elections in five states slated later this year.

Rajasthan is to elect its 200-member Assembly before the end of the year as the term of the present House ends on December 31.

The CEC and other ECs yesterday held a meeting with Home Secretary Anil Goswami on the availability of forces for polls. They also held another meeting with officials of the Department of Telecom for reviewing the communication network during assembly elections.

Five states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Delhi and Mizoram will go to polls later this year to elect their new Assemblies.
