Goa Governor B V Wanchoo told media persons today that the petition submitted to him has been forwarded to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
"I have already sent the complaint to ECI as is the normal practice," he said when asked about the issue.
It is now for the ECI to take call on it, the Governor said.
Melwyn Fernandes, a local, had complained to the Governor about Ticlo's dual citizenship. According to him, the Indian national had taken Portuguese citizenship in 2009.
Under the Constitution, persons with dual citizenship are barred from contesting elections.
Fernandes had demanded that Ticlo be disqualified from the Assembly, where he represents the Aldona constituency.
"Take me to court if somebody feels I should be disqualified," the ruling party MLA had said when the petition was submitted.
