ED interrogates Madhu Koda in coal scam case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) today interrogated former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda in coal scam case.

Koda was interrogated for more than four hours by ED officials, sources in it said.

ED started the case against him under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) for his alleged involvement in allotment of coal and iron-ore mines in Jharkhand when he was the chief minister in exchange of favours.

Koda, who held office as chief minister from September 2006 till August 2008 was arrested by state police's vigilance wing on November 30, 2009 in connection with the scam.

On July 31, 2013, he was released on bail from Birsa Munda prison in Ranchi.
