Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder got emotional as he paid tribute to Chris Cornell during his Amsterdam concert without ever directly mentioning the legendary singer.

Vedder played his band's track "Long Road" to open the show and altered the lyric "But still/Something's missing" to "Without you/Something is missing" to reflect on the Soundgarden singer's death, reported Rolling Stone.

"I'm thinking of a lot of people tonight. And some in particular and their families. And I just know that healing takes time if it ever happens. It takes time, and that means you have to start somewhere. So let it be music. Let it be love and togetherness. And let it be Amsterdam," Vedder told the crowd.

The two collaborated for a band named Temple of the Dog, which was conceived by Cornell as a tribute to his friend, Andrew Wood, lead singer of the bands Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone.
