Kids tablet maker Eddy is looking at raising USD 5-10 million funding in the next six months as it expands its presence in the Indian market.

Eddy is a City-based venture of Metis Learning, an education start-up.

"We are looking at raising about USD 5-10 million as part of a series A funding. This will be used building awareness in the market, which is still very small," Eddy co-founder Bharat Gulia told PTI.

He added that studies indicate that children in India are now increasingly spending a lot of time playing games on parent's smart phones.

"With parents having increasing concerns about responsible use of technology, these tablets make for a good investment in a child's future," he said.

Eddy today partnered Cartoon Network Enterprises to launch two new tablets for kids aged three years onwards.

The two tabs feature two popular properties of television channels, Cartoon Network and POGO -- Ben 10 and MAD -- and come pre-loaded with activities, apps and videos designed to nurture creativity in children.

The tablets run on Android Jellybean operating system and are priced at Rs 9,999 (Ben 10) and Rs 8,999 (Creativity) and will be available through Amazon India website and eddy's website. The devices come with parental controls for content.

"Our tablets provide fun content to bring out and nurture the superstar that lies in every child. Instead of spending thousands of rupees on toys, video games or merchandise, parents can gift their kids one of these tablets," he said.

The Creativity tablet carries more than 180 activities from the show M.A.D (Music, Art and Dance), while the Ben 10 tablet has than 1,000 minutes of Ben 10 content, thousands of books and learning games.

"The Creativity and Ben 10 tablets will not only entertain kids with games and videos but will also provide an impetus to learning new skills and garner knowledge in a fun and familiar tech-based environment," Turner International India Managing Director South Asia Siddharth Jain said.
