Edible and non-edible oils trade lower on sluggish demand

Groundnut oil fell in an otherwise dull oils and oilseeds Vashi Wholesale market here today on subdued demand from stockist and retailers amidst fresh arrivals from producing belts.

Refined palmolein edged down further owing to reduced retail buying.

In the non-edible segment, castorseeds bold and castor oil commercial slid further in the absence of demand from shippers and soap industries.

Linseeds oil also went down following reduced offtake from paint and allied industries.

In futures market, castorseeds for September contract maintained its down-trend due to speculative selling amid mute export enquiries.

In the edible segment, Groundnut oil dropped by Rs 15 per 10 kg to Rs 920 from Friday's closing level of Rs 935 and refined palmolein inched down by rupee per 10kg to Rs 527.
 

Moving to non-edible section, castorseeds bold declined by Rs 35 per 100 kg to Rs 3,450 from Rs 3,485 and castoroil commercial eased by Rs 7 per 10kg to Rs 720 from Rs 727. Linseeds oil also slipped by Rs 5 to Rs 730 from overnight close of Rs 735 previously.

Turning to futures, Castorseeds September contract resumed slightly higher at Rs 3,666, but later slid to finish at Rs 3,627 from Rs 3,663 previously, showing loss of Rs 36 per tonne.
