Edible oils firms up on rising demand

Groundnut oil gained further at the oils and oilseeds wholesale market at Vashi here today on steady demand from stockist and retailers.

Refined palmolein edged up following good retail demand amidst bullish Malayasian advices.

Meanwhile, castorseed bold, castoroil and linseed oil ruled steady in the absence of any major buying activity.

In the futures market, castorseeds rose further on persistent demand on the back of higher export inquiries.

In the edible section, Groundnut oil climbed by Rs 5 per 10kg to Rs 1,140 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 1,135 and refined palmolein added Rs 2 per 10kg to Rs 510 as against Rs 508 previously.
 

Moving to futures, castorseed June contract resumed higher at Rs 3,560 and later drifted lower to Rs 3,526 before concluding at Rs 3,580 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 3,549, showing a gain of Rs 31 per tonne.

Turning to non-edible oils: Castorseed bold, castoroil commerical and linseed oil prices closed unchanged at Rs 3,500 per 100kg, Rs 730 per 10kg and Rs 745 per 10kg, respectively.
