Edible oil prices rose up to Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today on the back of increased buying by vanaspati millers and retailers, triggered by upcoming festive season demand.
Linseed oil also moved up on fresh enquiries from paint industries.
Traders said increased buying by vanaspati millers and retailers to meet coming festive season demand mainly led to the rise in edible oil prices.

In the national capital, groundnut mill delivery(Gujarat) and sesame mill delivery oils moved up by Rs 100 each to Rs 7,500 and Rs 8,300 per quintal respectively.
Cottonseed mill delivery (Haryana) and mustard expeller (Dadri) oils went up by Rs 50 each to Rs 6,250 and Rs 7,300 per quintal respectively.
In line with a general firm trend, soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Kandla) oils rose by Rs 100 each to Rs 6,500 and Rs 6,200 and crude palm oil (ex-Kandla) traded up by Rs 50 to Rs 4,800 per quintal respectively.
Palmolein (rbd) and palmolein (Kandla) oils followed suit and gained Rs 50 each to Rs 5900 and Rs 5700 per quintal respectively.
In the non-edible section, linseed oil edged up by Rs 50 to Rs 8,000 per quintal.

Vanaspati Ghee (15-litre tin) 1,000-1,200.
Edible oils: Groundnut Mill Delivery (Gujarat) 7,500, Groundnut Solvent Refined (per tin) 1,300-1,350, Mustard expeller (Dadri) 7,300, Mustard Pakki Ghani (per tin) 1,225- 1,275, Mustard Kachi Ghani (per tin) 1,275-1,375, sesame mill delivery 8,300, Soyabean Refined Mill Delivery (Indore) 6,500, Soyabean Degum (Kandla) 6,200, Crude Palm Oil (Ex-Kandla) 4,800, Cottonseed Mill Delivery (Haryana) 6,250, Palmolein (RBD) Rs 5,900, Palmolein (Kandla) 5,700 and Coconut (per tin) 2,700-2,775.
Non-edible oils: Linseed 8,000, Castor 9,600-9,700, Neem 5,350-5,450.
