The East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) today organised its first-ever legal awareness programme to sensitise elected representatives specially the councillors to know about the the legal rights of a common man.
The programme held at the civic body's headquarters at Patparganj here was held in coordination with the Delhi Legal Service Authority (DLSA)-East.
The idea was to create awareness about legal issues and rights of the common man besides various beneficiary schemes extended by the DLSA, the EDMC said.
The programme was attended by East Delhi Mayor Harsh Malhotra, Leader of Opposition Varyam Kaur, Additional Commissioner (II) C A Dhan along with various councillors and senior officials of the corporation.
Malhotra said that various legal awareness programme is organised to sensitise the elected representatives specially councillors to know public about their legal rights of common man.
He added that the programme is been organised for the empowerment of individuals regarding issues involving the law and helps in promoting consciousness about legal culture.
During the programme emphasis was laid on discussing various beneficial programmes for the benefit of the people, he said.
