East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) today inaugurated a special camp to sanction building plans and regularise unauthorised constructions as per the Master Plan of Delhi, 2021.

Zonal and town planning officials will be present every Monday for the camp, which is to be held at the EDMC headquarters at Patparganj, to sanction plans, said East Delhi Mayor, Meenakshi.

Thirteen building plans were passed today and two properties were regularised. Five fresh applications were also submitted which would be sanctioned by next week. Also, 30 people visited the camp today who did not have the required documents, EDMC said in a statement.

Leader of the House Ram Narayan Dubey said that for the convenience of the people, EDMC has prepared a check-list of the documents needed for the sanctioning of plans.

East Delhi Municipal Commissioner S Kumaraswamy said that sanctioning of building plans takes nearly 15 days if the application is made online. Kumaraswamy also claimed that only 10 per cent of the total applications are delayed.

The camp is aimed at extending speedier sanction to building plans in order to encourage authorised construction, EDMC added.
