Jharkhand Governor Droupadi Murmu today said education plays a vital role in laying the basic foundation in one's life and is necessary to be successful.

"It develops students' personality, sets up physical and mental standard and transforms their living status," Murmu said at the Golden Jubilee Year Celebration of Jawahar Vidya Mandir in Shyamali, where cricketer M S Dhoni studied.

Congratulating the school on the occasion, the Governor said it is among the well recognised institutions which have been providing quality education in Jharkhand.

She said that in the present competitive world, education has become the fourth necessity for human beings after food, cloth and shelter.

"It enables us to find out solution for major problems and make us aware about contemporary issues."

The Governor said that it was a matter of pride that students of this school have been doing equally well in the field of sports.

"The name of M S Dhoni, an alumnus of the school is known throughout the world," she said.

"I have been informed that for inculcating value-based education and respecting the elders of our society, the school arranges visits to the Old Age Homes for the students to celebrate different festivals with the residents of such homes," Murmu said.

"On this occasion, I appeal to the school

administration to come forward to give free education to children from the poor and disadvantaged section of the society so that they can also be shown the right direction in their lives. Please adopt at least one Government High School and bring up its standards on par with your institution," she said.

At the same time, the governor said, she would also appeal to the teachers to shape and prepare the students not only to meet the various personal and professional problems encountered by them but also think creatively in national and global context.

The governor called upon the students, appealing to teach children from deprived and backward communities in their spare time.

"That will be your greatest gift to society," the governor said.

"This Golden Jubilee Celebration is a proud moment for the students, teachers and the school administration. You all must always work to excel and achieve greater heights in your respective fields. I extend my best wishes for your bright future," the governor said.
