'Education must equip students to become responsible citizens'

Lieutenant Governor Of Delhi Anil Baijal today said education policy must be designed in a way that it equips students to handle life, work and become responsible citizens.

Baijal was addressing graduating students of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University on 12th convocation at the varsity campus here.

"Purpose of education need not only equip students to enter the workforce or make them intellectual, " said Baijal who is also the Chancellor of the university, adding "it should also make them handle life, work and be a responsible citizen.

The Chancellor also said universities have a critical role in bringing entrepreneurial skills in students.
 

"Entrepreneurship has a long way to go and universities have a critical role to play in it," he said.

Degrees in various disciplines were handed over to the graduating students in the presence of the Chancellor.

S K Joshi, former director general, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, who was the chief guest, explained about various trending technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Big Data to the students.
