Education officer in ACB net for receiving Rs 4 lakh bribe

An Education officer from a Zilla Parishand in Nanded district of Maharashtra was today arrested by sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for taking a bribe of Rs 4 lakh from a teacher.

Savita Sidgonda Birge (45), a Grade-I Education Officer of the Zilla Parishad was caught red-handed accepting the bribe after the agency laid a trap at her office this morning, an ACB official said.

Birge had demanded Rs 4 lakh bribe from a teacher to release her salary dues of Rs 12.71 lakh.

The teacher then approached the ACB and lodged a complaint against the woman official.
