Education official held for taking Rs 50,000 bribe

A district education official in Warangal was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000, Anti-Corruption Bureau said today.

Obili Rani, regional joint director of Board of Intermediate Education at Hanumakonda in Warangal, was caught red-handed by the ACB officials last evening at her office when she demanded and accepted Rs 50,000 as bribe from the complainant.

She demanded the bribe for allegedly renewing the post of lecturer in computer science education on contract basis, an ACB release said here today.

After recovery of the amount, Rani was arrested by ACB officials, the release added.
