The government has invited suggestions from CBSE students of Classes VI to XII on the proposed national education policy before unveiling its first draft in December.

The students have been asked to give their feedback online before October 5 as they are "main beneficiaries". A communication in this regard has been sent to schools to encourage the students to submit their suggestions.

HRD Minister Smriti Irani, who visited various states early this month and held meets to elicit views about the education policy, had announced at the CBSE award function on the eve of Teachers' Day that the government would also engage students in the process.

The Minister has said the first draft of the education policy would be ready by December. She also held detailed deliberations with state education ministers at the Central Advisory Board of Education Meet recently.

The new education policy comes against the backdrop of widespread criticism of "saffronisation" of education under the NDA dispensation.
