Punjab Education Minister Daljit Singh Cheema today said the government will soon launch a dedicated TV channel showing educational content for the benefit of school students.

The work on Vidya TV is in its last stage and it would be likely to be launched in a month's time, he said after laying foundation stone of a government school in Sector 39 here.

It would be a round-the-clock education channel and provide quality content to those preparing for competitive examinations as well as middle school, a release said quoting the minister.

It will begin with focus on higher classes like the X and XII.

But gradually, it will include those from middle school as well.

The channel would present the recorded lectures from the experts on various subjects, he said.

Cheema said the Punjab government is committed for strengthening education in the state.

He said that is why, this time, 31 students from state-run meritorious schools have cracked the prestigious exam for admission in IITs and many others are expected to clear competitive exams in medical and commerce stream.
