Educationist P Dayal dies

Noted educationist and former Vice- Chancellor of Magadh University Parmeshwar Dayal, aged 95, died here today at a private hospital after illness, the family said.

Dayal is survived by four sons, including cricketer Amikar Dayal, and three daughters.

Dayal had served as the Vice Chancellor of the Magadh University from 1975 to 1977.

Born in 1920, after primary education in Patna, Dayal went to Aligarh Muslim University to do a MA in 1941. He did his PhD from London School of Economics in 1947 and then served at the Patna College in the Geography Department.

Dayal had written over a dozen books on geography. He had also served as the principal of Patna College.
 

The educationist will be cremated at the Bans Ghat tomorrow.
