Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) is roping in post offices and some 55,000 petrol pumps to expand its reach for retailing energy efficient electrical products.

"We have tied up with PSU oil retailing companies - IOC, BPCL, and HPCL for roping in 55,000 petrol pumps in the country to sell our products," EESL managing director Saurabh Kumar said at the 10th Environment and Energy Conclave here organised by Bengal Chamber.

He said these will be permanent counters for selling energy efficient electric products like lights and fans.

Kumar said post offices will also act as retailing points.

So far EESL was working with state governments and its success has encouraged the self sustainable organisation to go aggressive.

He said despite the EESL's success West Bengal is yet to decide on the model provided by it on replacing street lights.

The pilot was carried out three years ago.

The EESL model do not attract any capex to replace street lights and payment is based on saving achieved by the utility.
