Effigy burning banned in Jaipur due to Assembly polls

Carrying of effigies and burning them have been banned in Jaipur by the District Election Officer till the Rajasthan Assembly elections are over, in compliance to the Model Code of Conduct.

No political party or organisation would be allowed to carry effigy and burn it in public in the district, an order quoting DEO and Collector T Ravikant said.

The order also prohibited parties from using loudspeakers without permission.

To organise procession and rallies, parties would need permission of the DEO, and all routes would need to be cleared by the district administration, the order said.

The DEO ordered that no government employee or officer should leave the headquarters without permission from competent authority or the election department, the order said.
 

Rajasthan Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on December 1.
