Massive rescue operations continued on the third consecutive day today to locate the four-year-old girl, who accidentally fell in an open borewell at an agricultural field in Telangana's Ranga Reddy district.

"Rescue efforts are going on. It may take some more time. The horizontal drilling is about to reach upto the borewell hole," Deputy Commissioner of Police (L B Nagar-Zone) P Visva Prasad told PTI.

"We suspect that the girl might be trapped at around 45-feet inside the pit. We have reached at a depth of 42-feet, after digging a parallel trench," Manchala police station inspector P Jagadeeshwar said.

"We are hopeful of reaching the girl in about next two-three hours," he said.

The incident occurred Sunday morning on the outskirts of Manchala village when Girija accidentally fell inside the open borewell while playing when her grandparents were working in the field.

"Oxygen is also being supplied inside the hole. A camera was also put inside to locate her," officials said.

Police and revenue officials, besides teams of NDRF, fire, geologists, and coal mining company Singareni Collieries were involved in the rescue operations.

The borewell is nearly 300-feet deep, police said.
