Jharkhand government today informed the state Assembly that efforts are on to bring down malnutrition in the state.

"We can't deny that there is malnutrition. But, we are trying to bring it down to the minimum level," Social Welfare Minister Louis Marandi said.

Replying to a starred query of Bahujan Samaj Party's Kushwaha Shivpujan Mehta, she said malnutrition level has come down to 22.84 per cent in 2015 from around 56 per cent in 2005-06 and around 42 per cent in 2009-10.

A special campaign was being taken up to make people aware about nutrition, Marandi said.

She termed tackling malnutrition in the state as a challenge and sought cooperation from all members in the House to bring it down.
