Efforts on to put derailed UP back on track: Akhilesh

"Mayawati government had derailed the system and efforts were on to bring things back on track and improve the functioning," he said in his native village Saifai.

Akhilesh today announced a slew of schemes for Saifai and distributed cheques to the beneficiaries of unemployment allowance and Kanya Vidyadhan Yojna.

Distributing cheques to 7,767 beneficiaries of the unemployment allowance and over 2,000 girls of the Vidyadhan Yojna hailing from Etawah and Mainpuri districts at a function in Saifai, the chief minister said aim of his party was to improve the lot of the people.

SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav was also present at the function.

 

He asked the educated youth to join politics and give a fresh momentum to development.

Expressing concern over low percentage of youth showing interest in higher education, Mulayam said "only one per cent youth reach universities and colleges for higher education although the future and development of the country depends on them".

Terming corruption as the major hurdle in the progress of the country, Yadav said that it (corruption) has spread far and wide and even the honest find themselves trapped among the corrupt.

Chief Minister announced setting up of Saifai development authority, extending emergency facilities in Saifai medical college, setting up of trauma and burn centre in the medical college as also a government girls inter college.

Besides, he also announced laying of hockey Astro Turf in Etawah stadium, setting up barracks in the police lines, electrification of hamlets having a population of more that 300, a girls post graduate college in Kuravali, Mainpuri and setting up of Kishni tehsil.
