An Egyptian court has sentenced 29 defendants it describes as Islamist supporters of the ousted president to five years in prison each on several charges including rioting.
Today's ruling by Nasr City Misdemeanor court is in connection to demonstrations staged to protest the overthrow of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi by the military in July.
Morsi's ouster followed days of mass demonstrations demanding his resignation.
