Egypt cancels Jewish festival at Alexandria synagogue

The Eliahou Hanabi Synagogue in Alexandria will not the festival for the first time since it was built in 1836.

The synagogue's Rabbi Abraham Nino-Dayan, however, said the move was not related to the Muslim Brotherhood's rising influence in the country.

He said many Israelis were denied permission to take part in the festival at the synagogue this year.
