Egypt has suspended a kung fu champion who accepted his gold medal at an international tournament wearing a T-shirt supporting his country's harried Islamist movement, a sports official said.
Mohamed Youssef won a gold medal in the 90 kilogram Wushu category in the World Combat Games held this month in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
He wore a T-shirt emblazoned with a black hand giving a four finger salute, the sign of the Islamist Rabaa al-Adawiya protest camp that police violently dispersed in August.

"The player has been officially suspended until he is investigated," Gazzar said.
Youssef beat Iranian Arman Baziari in the final on Saturday.
Hundreds of Islamist supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi were killed when police cracked down on their protest camps in Cairo on August 14.
At least 2,000 Islamists have been arrested since then.
Morsi, elected in June 2012, ruled for only a year before the military overthrew him following massive protests demanding his resignation.
