Eight booked for embezzlement of funds

Eight persons have been booked for their alleged involvement in embezzlement of funds of around Rs 1.79 lakh from the cash counter of a blood bank here.

Seven contractual employees and an engineer of a software firm have been booked for cheating and fraud yesterday after a report by a probe committee, circle in charge (CI) of Nayapura police station Ramkheladi Meena said.

Superintendent of Maharao Bheem Singh (MBS) hospital Dr R S Meena said that the four-member probe panel found the eight people guilty of misappropriation of funds at the blood bank counter of the hospital here.

He said the probe panel has revealed that during January 1 to March 18 this year, instead of showing the total amount of blood sold to 223 patients, these employees entered data of only 22 patients causing a loss of of Rs 1,79,350 to
 

Giraj Meena, Anil Meraha, Anand Bhatnagar, Kuderat Singh Hada, Narendra Singh, Sweta Mahadevan and Seema Kevat, all contractual employees provided by a placement firm and software engineer Anoop Bhatnagar were instantly removed, Dr Meena said.

The accused have been booked under sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant, or by banker, merchant or agent) of IPC, circle in-charge Ramkheladi Meena said.

No arrest has been made in this connection, he said, adding, the matter is being investigated.
