Eight booked in school recognition renewal scam

Lokayukta police today booked eight people, including two officers of education department, in connection alleged scam pertaining to renewal of recognition of six private middle schools.

Former District Education Officer (DEO) Sanjay Goyal, former Block Development Resources Coordinator (BRC) Manohar Dhiman and directors of six private middle schools have been charged with criminal conspiracy and different sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) S S Yadav told PTI.

They have been booked following investigations into a complaint filed by a local resident in 2015.

The DSP said that Goyal and Dhiman allegedly misused their power and renewed the recognition of six schools for last five consecutive years.
 

Yadav said that detailed investigations are underway and right now no one has been arrested.
