Eight boys drown in Bihar

Eight boys drowned today in two separate incidents in Bihar's Siwan and Bhagalpur districts, police sources said.

Five boys, aged between 15 and 18 years, drowned in a pond at Dhalkhar village in Siwan district after they accidentally slipped into deep water while taking bath, the sources said.

The victims, identified as Irshad, Parvez, Sant, Zishant and Sayeed Khan - all natives of Purana Qila and Ekamhala locality of Siwan town - had gone for picnic with 10 other boys to the village when five of them drowned in the pond, they said.

The bodies have been fished out and sent for post-mortem, the sources added.
 

In a related incident in Bhagalpur district, three boys drowned in a ditch in Pirbanna village, police said, adding the victims were identified as Ritesh Kumar (10), Prince Kumar (11) and Bade Lal (14) - all students of a secondary school.
