Eight classics of world cinema remain available for selection in the ongoing public screening poll on the International Film Festival of Kerala's (IFFK) official Facebook page.
The Kerala State Chalachitra Academy (KSCA), in association with the Manaveeyam Theruvorakootam collective, a local cultural gathering, will screen the most-sought film at on October 18.
The screening of last week's poll winner, Charlie Chaplin's "The Great Dictator" (1940), received warm response from an appreciative and enthusiastic audience that braved pouring rain to catch the Malayalam-subtitled edition of the comedic masterpiece.
Among the films cinema aficionados can vote for, are landmark works of master filmmakers that have become cultural touchstones.
The movies are: "Battleship Potemkin" (1925) by Sergei Eisenstein, "Wild Strawberries" (1957) by Ingmar Bergman, "Hiroshima Mon Amour" (1959) by Alain Resnais, "Ashes and Diamonds" (1958) by Andrzej Wajda, "Aguirre, The Wrath of God" (1972) by Werner Herzog, "Knife in the Water" (1962) by Roman Polanski, "La Strada" (1954) by Federico Fellini and "Seven Samurai" (1954) by Akira Kurosawa.
In the run-up to the fast-approaching 20th edition of the IFFK, the KSCA will screen every Sunday evening the movie most-voted-for over the week preceding.
IFFK 2015, Kerala's premier film festival, will run from December 4-11.
