Eight convicted under Gangster Act

A local court today sentenced an eight-year jail term to eight persons, holding them guilty under the Gangster Act in a 23-year-old case.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Mayank Chouhan also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each on the convicts.

The court awarded the sentence to Irfan, Imran, Furkan, Fazal, Naeem, Kamil, Arshad and Sabir after they were found guilty under the Gangster Act here, according to Assistant government Counsel Ritu Choudhry.

The eight convicts were booked under the Gangster Act after they were booked by police at Gharhipukhta village in Shamli district on 1992.
