The last date for filing of nominations ended today and after scrutiny on January 28, the last date for withdrawal of nominations is January 30. Counting for the February 13 election will be held on February 16.
The seat had fallen vacant after Congress' Ramanjit Singh Sikki resigned over incidents of sacrilege in his constituency last year.
Notably, main opposition Congress today decided to boycott the bypoll, with party's Punjab unit chief Amarinder Singh maintaining "since the basic issue of the sacrilege of the holy Guru Granth Sahib, for which Sikki resigned, still remains unresolved".
AAP has already decided not to field its candidate as it is concentrating on the 2017 Assembly polls in the state.
