Eight fishermen arrested by Lankan navy

Sri Lankan Naval men today arrested eight fishermen, who had put to sea from here in two boats, when they were fishing off Katchatheevu, officials said.

The fishermen have been taken to taken to Talaimannar district of Sri Lanka, officials said.

Meanwhile, four fishermen, missing since June 12, were traced near Katchatheevu, an islet in the Palk Straits, where their boat got stranded due to technical snag in the engine.

They have been rescued and brought here by other fishermen, officials said.
