Eight people, including two paramilitary personnel and a policeman, were injured today when militants carried out a bomb attack at a security checkpost in the North Nazimabad area of the city today.

Militants had first lobbed a hand-grenade at a Rangers checkpost in the Kati Parahi area of Nazimabad, Sindh police spokesman SSP Imran Shaukat said.

"The second explosion took place from a remote-controlled device planted near the checkpost in which at least eight people were injured," he said.

The injured include two Rangers personnel, a policeman and passersby, Shaukat said.

Meanwhile, Karachi police have arrested the alleged killer of a senior lawyer and his two minor sons.

The man, identified as Ghaniur Rehman, was arrested from the Hawkes Bay area and is believed to be a member of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The lawyer, Kauser Saqlain, was on his way to his sons' school on Mauripur road when they were shot multiple times in their heads and chests.

The brothers died on-the-spot while their father succumbed to injuries at the civil hospital.
