Eight persons including six women were killed and four others injured when the jeep they were travelling in fell into a gorge in Yamkeshwar area of Pauri district today.
The jeep carrying locals fell into a deep gorge at Gaindkhal when it was on its way to Amsain, killing eight of them on the spot and leaving four injured,Laxmanjhoola police station incharge said.
The mishap occurred at around 2 PM in the afternoon, he said.
All the bodies have been recovered with the help of locals, he said, adding six women and the driver of the jeep are among those killed.
The injured have been hospitalised.
