The medal winners at the Asian Junior Cycling Championships -- Deborah and T Manorama Devi -- will lead an eight-member Indian contingent at the UCI World Junior Championships that commences in Glasgow tomorrow.

The team, which left for the Championships yesterday, consists of four boys and four girls. All the members are taking part in the event for the first time.

They will be competing across sprint disciplines -- time trial, individual pursuit, scratch race, point race, keirin, team sprint and team pursuit.

Around 400 cyclists from 30 countries are participating in the competition.

Deborah had won three medals in the Asian event in March, while Manorama had bagged a silver, and India would pin their hopes on these two cyclists.

The team, however, will miss the services of coach Ruma Chatterjee, who was killed in a road accident in Noida Expressway in June.

Team:

Boys: Rohit (Haryana), Alan Baby (Kerala), Dilawar (Haryana), Rubalpreet Singh (Punjab).

Girls: Deborah (Andaman & Nicobar), Manorama Devi (Manipur), T Bidyaluxmi (Manipur), Jashanjit Kaur Turka (Punjab).
