Eight persons sustain burn injuries

Eight members of a family, including two women and two children, sustained serious burn injuries in a fire in Assam's Dhubri district tonight, police said.

The fire broke out around 7.30 pm when the family was sleeping in their house at Santoshpur, a remote village under Chapar police station, causing the victims to receive 80 per cent burn injuries, the sources said.

Stating the bamboo-tin house was burnt down completely, they said, the cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Three of the critically injured were sent to F A Ahmed Medical College Hospital in Barpeta district, another three were admitted to Dhubri Civil Hospital and two others in nearby Bilasipara's government hospital.
