Eight postal ATMs to come up in North East

Department of posts would soon launch eight ATMS in the North Easter region, Chief Post Master General, North East circle, Smita Kumari, said today.

Besides these eight, 15 more locations are under the process of installation of ATMs, Kumari told a press conference here.

India Post has taken up modernization plan under which computerization of all post offices in the country is taking place.

She said the department of posts has a network of around 1.55 lakh post offices out of which 2920 are in the North East circle.

To a query about poor connectivity in rural areas of the state, Kumari admitted that connectivity is a major challenge and till date many of the post offices in the state are not connected by Internet.
 

She said that around seven offices in the North East circle have been covered under core banking and the rest of the offices will be covered very soon.
