Elaborate security arrangements for PM's Varanasi visit

Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place by Uttar Pradesh Police for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's one-day visit to his Lok Sabha constituency on June 28.

The PM will arrive at Varanasi airport at 4 pm and will reach Banaras Hindu University (BHU) at 4 30 pm to inaugurate a Trauma Centre there, IG law and order, A Satish Ganesh said here today.

He would also lay foundation stone of an Integrated Power Development Scheme near BHU and would leave for New Delhi after staying there for an hour, the IG said.

Ganesh said that Chief Secretary, Alok Ranjan along with DGP AK Jain and Principal Secretary Home Devashish Panda will hold video-conference on June 24 with district administration officials and review the security arrangements.
 

DG (Security), Gopal Gupta has been made in charge of PM's programme and 14 SP rank, 20 Deputy SP rank officers have been deployed for his security, he said.

Besides, 15 companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary, RAF and adequate number of police personnel will be positioned in Varanasi, the IG said

The entire 30 km route from airport to BHU has been divided in sectors and SP rank officers will be made in charge of them, he added.
