An elderly couple was found dead inside their residence in Jamorwa village under Mohanganj police station limits in this district of Uttar Pradesh, police said today, suspecting a property angle into the killings.
According to Amethi SP KK Gehlot, Hari Prasad (50) and his wife Savitri (45) were found dead at their residence where they lived as tenants.
They were murdered by some sharp-edged weapon as their bodies were lying in a pool of blood, he said.
The deceased, Prasad, was head master in a primary school in Jamo block, he added.
As the information of the double murder surfaced, top police and administrative officials, including SP Gehlot and SDM Tiloi AK Shukla reached the spot.
An FIR was lodged in this regard and the bodies were sent for post-mortem, police said, adding that property dispute could be a reason behind the killings.
