An elderly couple was found brutally killed in their home in a village near here in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, a senior police official said.
Manku Yadav (80) and his wife Rukhmani (75), who were living in a hutment near their agriculture field in Kupakani village, were apparently killed on late Monday night, Raigarh Additional Superintendent of Police Abhishek Verma said.
The incident came to light when a local villager went to meet them this morning, he said.
The villager informed the police and others about the killings, Verma said.
"Unidentified attackers had slit the couple's throats with a sharp-edged weapon, he said.
The deceased have two sons and they live with their families in the nearby Lailunga village, he said.
The motive behind the killings of the senior citizens was not immediately known and police teams were trying to ascertain the identity the culprits and nab them, Verma said.
A case has been registered and further probe was underway, the ASP said.
