An elderly couple were allegedly murdered by their relative at a village near Vedaranyam in the district today over a property dispute, police said.
The relative Narayanasamy, who surrendered before police after the murder was arrested, police said.
They said, Shanmugam (60) and his wife Nagavalli (55) had some disputes with Narayanasamy over a property.

Narayanasamy went to Shanmugam's house this morning and strangled the couple, slit their throat and stabbed them using a knife.
The couple died on the spot.
