An elderly man belonging to Naudad village was allegedly beaten to death in a clash over some land dispute here today, police said.
There was a land dispute between the deceased Shankar Lal (70) and one Shriram and both of them claimed the ownership of the concerned land. The case is in court, they said.
Upon instructions of the concerned court, a team was sent to the village for measurement of the land, but both the parties clashed in front of the team following which Shankar Lal collapsed, SHO Jagdishpur SM Yadav said.

The deceased's son has lodged an FIR with Jagdishpur police.
Police is waiting for the post-mortem report, the SHO added.
Meanwhile, more than six persons were today injured in a clash over encroachment of land in Biripur village in Amethi district, police said.
SHO Jamo who rushed to the spot along with Circle Officer of Gauriganj Navin Singh, said that the injured were admitted to CHC Jamo and were relieved soon after primary treatment but one Chamela Devi (40), was referred to trauma centre in Lucknow.
Police is camping in the village to avert any further development.
