Elderly undertrial dies of heart failure in UP

A 60-year-old undertrial prisoner at the district jail here died allegedly due to heart failure this morning, a jail official said.

Inder Kumar, arrested in a power theft case, was rushed to district hospitalafter he complained of chest pain but later was declared dead by the doctors, Jail SuperintendentRakesh Singh said.

The accused was arrested from Bahawdi village here on November 1 and was undergoing trial, he said.

The body has been sent for post mortem and a judicial inquiry into the death has been recommended by jail authorities, Singh added.
