Elderly watchman killed in Thane

A 55-year-old watchman deployed at a housing society was allegedly killed by a fellow security guard on Mira Road area here, police said today.

The accused, Janak Sharma (25), who also worked as a watchman in another housing society on Mira Road, allegedly called Ramsingh Bhandare on the terrace of a building where he slit the latter's throat with a sharp weapon yesterday, police inspector Dhanaji Kshirsagar said.

Sharma was subsequently arrested and booked under section 302 (murder) of the IPC, he said, adding the body was sent for postmortem.

The motive behind the killing was yet to be ascertained, he said.
