An elderly woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence at Daderkoot village of Kulgam district, 70 kms from here, police said today.
The incident took place last evening when the body of 70-year-old Raja Begum was found hanging at her house in Yaripora area of the district, they said.
It was not known immediately what prompted her to take such an extreme step.
A case has been registered in this regard while the further probes are on, police added.
