An elderly woman died this morning after she along with her family, was found in an unconscious condition in Patti Chaudharan village here, police said.
Rajesh (52), her husband Brahmapal (55) and adopted son Prince (10) were found in an unconscious condition with their hands and legs tied, by the neighbours who rushed them to a hospital where the woman later died, police said.
According to preliminary investigations, the family was fed a poisonous substance by someone known to them, police said adding, the other two are still in the hospital.
The couple's only son was killed two years ago over a property dispute and he had adopted Prince around two months ago, police added.
