: A 67-year-old woman died after falling down a lift shaft at a function-cum-convention hall here, police said Thursday.
The woman, after attending a marriage ceremony Wednesday, opened the outer grill door of the elevator on the third floor and stepped in not knowing that the lift had not arrived, a senior police official said.
She fell through the shaft and died while the lift was on the fourth floor, the official said.
There was no watchman or a lift operator when the incident took place, he said.
The woman's relatives alleged negligence on the part of the management of the hall leading to the death, he said.
Based on a complaint, a case has been registered, he added.
