A 65-year-old woman was today found murdered in her flat in a residential apartment in Sector-55 locality here, police said.
Body of Jaya Rani, who was residing with her son, daughter -in-law and granddaughter on the first floor of 'Brother's apartment', was found lying on the floor, with blood spread all over and entire house ransacked, they said.
"She was alone in the house when some unidentified person would have attacked her between 10 AM to 1PM. The incident came to light when her 6-year-old granddaughter returned from school with a neighbour. The main door of the flat was open and they were shocked to see the condition inside the flat," said Kumar," ACP Sadar Anil Kumar said.
Rani's son and daughter-in-law are employed with a private MNC and had gone to office.
Prima facie, the motive seems to be burglary as the house was ransacked, police said, adding they have called forensic experts and the CCTV footage is being examined to get a lead.
Also security guards are being questioned, they said.
