A 55 year-old woman was today killed and her daughter-in-law sustained injuries in an alleged acid attack by unidentified persons at their house in Badhalganj police station area here, police said.
The incident took place this afternoon when some persons forced their way into the house and demanded cupboard keys, they said.
When the women did not oblige, they threw acid on both of them. While the elderly woman died on the spot, her daughter-in-law suffered injuries in the hands and was hospitalized, police said.
A case has been registered and further investigations were underway, they said.
