Elderly woman killed in robbery bid

A 58-year-old woman was allegedly robbed and her throat slit by a sharp edged weapon at Sriram residency here, police said today.

The incident took place yesterday when Madhu Aggarwal was alone at her house and her son Vibhor Aggarwal had gone out to work, SHO Gorakh Nath Yadav said.

When Vibhor reached home, he found his mother lying in a pool of blood following which he informed police.

On a tip-off, the accused identified as Deepak was arrested today.

Police recovered a gold necklace, his blood stained shirt and a knife allegedly used in killing.

He has been sent to jail under appropriate sections of IPC, police said.
